| On August 21st,
2004, three individuals tested for their shodan, 1st degree black belt.
Each student has devoted many years of dedicated study in preparation
for this challenge. Testing includes a written examination, a
running component, performance of empty hand and weapons kata (forms),
self-defense utilizing empty hand and weapons, contact sparring for
numerous rounds, and tamishiwara (breaking of bricks and/or boards).
The exam was rigorous and the candidates distinguished themselves with
the true Modern Bujutsu spirit. Congratulations to Arelis
Matos-Cardona, Justin Beezley, and Jason Roque. |
